Vimal Balachander has been a member since 2010, and what drove her into the deeper study was a search for the reasons for the sorrows of her own life and of the people she loved, specially her mother who she lost that year. As years passed she learnt the core teaching is to become an altruist and so she started a support center for special needs families in her in- laws garden, called 'Mitr' which means 'friend', which did well from 2015 to 2019.
Later when Covid hit us all, online classes in Theosophy were a succour for students like her. All these years she availed of The School of Wisdom classes that the generous Adyar campus hosts. These are her theosophic credentials. She is an ordinary person, trained as an architect, enjoy crocheting, a mother to a daughter who is a practicing lawyer, and a special needs son, and wife hopefully, a good one, to her husband.
The link above shows all the activities they did in the support center including a four days workshop on Therapeutic Touch by Ananya Sriram Rajan in Jan 2017. She kept all the programs free, just like TS did for her. The center supported about 200 families.
Her goal is to live the teachings.
