Dr. James Madaio is Head of the Department of South Asia at the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, and a Research Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, UK. His research focuses on Hindu philosophical and contemplative traditions, with particular emphasis on Advaita related movements.

He has published widely in leading academic journals, edited scholarly volumes, contributed to international research projects, and lectured at universities in North America, Europe, and India. His textual scholarship focuses on the interplay between philosophy and transformative practices. He currently resides at Adyar Campus and is a researcher in the Adyar Library and Research Centre.
