James Tepfer is a committed student of the dynamic, sublime, and therapeutic philosophy of Theosophy. He has had the distinct honor of participating – in concert with devoted and brilliant co-workers – in the diverse, innovative work of the United Lodge of Theosophists in Santa Barbara, California.

In particular, it has been his immense privilege to explore the rich, multi-valent teachings of Theosophia (Divine Wisdom) under the luminous and compassionate tutelage of Shri Raghavan Iyer and Nandini Iyer.

In addition to engaging in numerous creative modes of disseminating the vibrant ethics of Theosophical thought for the sake of the human family, he has taught courses over the years in religion, philosophy, ethics and politics at Oxnard College.

He has also given numerous public presentations on Lincoln, Gandhi, Mandela and other statesmen at the eminent Institute of World Culture in Santa Barbara. (Dr. Tepfer received his doctorate in political philosophy from the University of California in Santa Barbara in 1974.)
