Geetha Jaikumar has made the Theosophical Society at Adyar her home since 1984, when she married into a theosophical family. A dedicated educator, she served for many years at a women’s college in Chennai, retiring in 2019 as Associate Professor and Principal. She holds a doctorate in Environmental Management Practices in Industry, reflecting her enduring commitment to sustainability and the natural world.
From 1999 to 2019, Geetha edited Wake Up India, the journal of the New Life for India Movement. Since 2012, she has been serving as the editor of the Adyar Newsletter, a quarterly publication of the Theosophical Society at Adyar. Following her retirement, Geetha joined the Adyar Archives as a volunteer researcher. Her study of the estate’s history and spiritual legacy culminated in the book, Adyar: The Masters’ Home – The Story of its History, Land, and People, due to be released during the 2025 International Convention at Adyar.
A keen observer of birds and trees, she nurtures a deep love for wildlife and plays an active role in the Adyar Eco-development Project, helping to renew the landscape she cherishes.
